Illuminating the present - Macedonia is navigating the climate crisis
Macedonia'story in improving energy efficiency
As per its commitment to the Paris Agreement, Macedonia has pledged to dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Since in this country most electricity still comes from coal there, the focus is on improving energy efficiency. The latest UN report is unequivocal: we only have 12 years to prevent catastrophic climate change and emissions must peak globally within about a year. But just as stories of crisis alarm us, tales of action illuminate the present. Curbing emissions is gaining ground and needs an urgent scale up, while adaptation measures can make a huge difference in protecting people and infrastructure.
Here’s a look at how countries in Eurasia are trying to integrate climate risks into their development efforts.
